6th Gen Honda Accord V6 - Supercharger

Modifications for the J30A1 equipped Honda Accords aren't as popular as their four cylinder (F23A1, F23A5, H22A) equipped counterparts. However for those car tuners owning one of these, there are a few options for increasing horsepower via forced induction.

The maniacs over at Comptech produce a bolt on Supercharger kit for this model.

The Comptech Honda Accord V6 supercharger uses a “screw type” design that provides consistent boost and compresses the intake charge efficiently with a minimal increase in the intake air temperature.

This combination provides almost instant boost that increases low and midrange torque for excellent throttle response.

The Comptech Honda Accord V6 Supercharger kit is complete with cast aluminum supercharger manifolds, all mounting brackets, fuel pressure regulator, Ice Box air intake, all necessary hardware and are designed to provide excellent breathing.

The kit requires no major modifications and the car can be easily returned to stock.

Comptech Honda Accord V6 Supercharger is safe and will give you gains like any other bolt-on modification can.

An In Depth Look At Honda Civic Headlights

Modifying your Honda Civic headlights is another way that you can set your Civic apart from all the rest. There are certain ways to go about doing this depending on which model year Honda Civic you have. There are a few styles of headlights that are available. These different styles of Honda Civic headlights totally change the front of your car. I myself prefer the dark tinted headlights, however the current rage is the clear look.

Clear corners are clear side markers. These are usually the amber part of your headlight where the turn signal resides. Depending on your state you may still be required to have amber bulbs for your turn signals even if you have clear corners. If this law is in your state I suggest that you don't get clear corners because they will not be totally clear with an amber bulb in them.

There are also black "projector" Honda Civic headlights. These headlights have a black housing with chrome lenses. This style of Honda Civic headlight is pretty awesome. Many come with BMW style angel eyes. These angel eyes are a ring of LED lights that encircle the headlight lenses.

Choosing bulbs for your Honda Civic headlights is another part of installation. You can opt for the “cool blue” look, some Civic owners go for the “Super Yellow” look reminiscent of the Le Mans race cars. Whatever your choice, bulbs will set your Honda Civic apart from the rest at night.

A word of warning. You should never get blue or red turn signal bulbs for your Honda Civic headlights. These color bulbs are illegal on the roads of the United States. Blue and red are colors that are reserved for emergency and law enforcement vehicles. If an officer of the law sees you signaling with a blue or red bulb you could be arrested for impersonating a police officer, which is not a light charge. There are stories of tuners being locked up for having blue and/or red turn signal bulbs.

Honda Civic headlights are a very important exterior modification. Installing a pair of these bad-boys will make your Civic hot!!!

What To Look For In A Honda Civic Cat Back Exhaust

Modifying your exhaust system on your Honda Civic is one of the most cost effective solutions to adding horsepower and torque. The exhaust system is made up of the exhaust manifold(header), downpipe, catalytic converter, muffler, and exhaust tip. Since we are discussing Honda Civic cat back exhausts we will be concerned with the piping and muffler choice.

There are several options when it comes to Honda Civic cat back exhausts. You could buy a direct bolt-on kit from one of the several exhaust system manufacterers. You also could purchase a system from a local muffler shop. Each choice has distinct advantages and disadvantages.

To understand why its necessary to upgrade to a Honda Civic cat back exhaust, I'm going to use an analogy. Its all about exhaust escape velocity and exhaust flow capacity. Imagine a water hose. If you take off the spray nozzle the water will flow slowly, but it will flow out at more volume. If you attach the nozzle the water will flow faster, but volume will decrease. In order to make good power from a Honda Civic cat back exhaust you are going to want to find the perfect balance between velocity and flow. This is where your Honda Civic cat back exhausts piping size comes into play.

Honda Civics utilize a small four cylinder engine for power production. This means that for naturally aspirated applications(no forced induction) you do not need piping any larger than 2.25 inches. If you go any larger you will notice a decrease in bottom end power. Larger piping is like taking the nozzle off of the water hose. Higher exhaust flow, but decreased velocity.

The muffler that is used in your Honda Civic cat back exhaust also effects total power gained. You may choose to go for a glasspack, which is a cansiter stuffed with fiberglass to reduce noise. These type of mufflers flow extremely well, but they are extremely loud. You may draw unwanted attention from your local law enforcement officers.

Honda Civic cat back exhausts sometimes employ other canister style mufflers that use a combination of baffles and fiberglass to reduce noise. This is the most common choice of Honda Civic tuners. These type of mufflers give your Honda Civic that signature unmistakeable Honda four cylinder exhaust tone.

Another choice is to have no muffler at all! This will provide you with the best flow, however the noise will be almost unbearable to those outside of your vehicle. I would only recommend doing this if you were going to use your Honda Civic for off-road use only, such as drag racing or autocross.

Honda Civic cat back exhausts come in many different forms and fashions. Choosing the correct one will set your Honda Civic apart from all of the others. Remember to shop around and consult other Honda Civic tuners to help you make a good buying decision.
